Malaysia sex for hire case - women laundering

Kuala Lumpur - Haslinda Merican M.A. Merican (43), former production house manager involved in drama and documentary productions and tourism promotions, has lost in her appeal against the conviction and sentence of 10 months jail and $5,000 (Ringgit Malaysia) fine for her role in the sex-for-hire case back in 1995. During the trial, the names and age of the women claimed to be artistes were disclosed in the court of law. They were aged from between 18 and 35. Justice Datuk Mohamad Zabidin Mohd Diah of the Malaysian High Court, in dismissing the appeal ruled that there was no misdirection of justice and that the ruling of the lower court would stay.
